Caring for an elderly loved one, an injured casualty or a resident in a nursing home can be very heavy work which often leads to back pain for the carer and can lead to accidents with the casualty or resident.

This course is designed to teach those who do care for the sick and elderly how to protect their own safety while moving individuals and will teach carers the correct techniques for lifting or moving in a safe and controlled manner.

The skeletal system and discs.
The anatomy, structure and function of the spine.
Posture and back pain.
Risk assessments.
Manual handling of people.
Controversial techniques.
Standard preparation for assistance.
The general use of equipment such as hoists and slings.
Using slide sheets.

I didn't receive it. When I arrived in Litterkenny (I had to take a taxi from Dunfanaghy to make it on time), it turned out that the courses were in English. My English is weak.
